Laser Tube Cutting Solution for Ladder Manufacturing in Hebei, China

10-27, 2026

A ladder manufacturer in Hebei, China, needed a more flexible way to process different tube components while maintaining consistent positioning across production batches.

After reviewing the customer’s tube drawings, material specifications, and production requirements, Despark recommended a laser tube cutting solution configured for ladder component processing.

Solution Application-based laser tube cutting configuration
Standard raw tube length Up to 6,200 mm

The Customer’s Production Challenges

Ladder production requires a range of accurately processed tube components. Before drilling, riveting, welding, or final assembly, these parts may need to be cut to length and processed with mounting holes, slots, notches, or angled ends.

The manufacturer’s existing workflow involved separate cutting and hole-processing operations. Components with multiple holes or connection features had to be positioned and transferred between different processing steps.

This workflow created several challenges:

  • Repeated positioning for different tube components
  • Additional handling between cutting and drilling processes
  • Deburring requirements after mechanical processing
  • Time-consuming changeovers between ladder models
  • Potential alignment differences between holes and cut ends
  • Difficulty managing mixed specifications and batch orders

Because the customer handled different ladder designs, the equipment needed to accommodate multiple tube profiles and simplify the processing of connection features.

Despark’s Customized Laser Tube Cutting Solution

Despark reviewed the customer’s tube drawings, material specifications, and production requirements before recommending a configuration for ladder component processing.

1. Chain-Type Semi-Automatic Loading

The chain-type semi-automatic loading system supported tube replenishment and batch processing. It was suitable for the customer’s small- and medium-sized tubes and different profile requirements.

2. Precision Pneumatic Clamping
A precision pneumatic chuck system provided secure clamping and repeatable positioning during cutting.

This helped maintain the positional relationship between mounting holes, slots, and tube ends—an important consideration for ladder components with connection and assembly features.

3. Processing for Long Raw Tubes
The standard machine configuration supported raw tubes with a maximum length of 6,200 mm, allowing the customer to process commonly used tube lengths.

Other tube length requirements could be evaluated for a customized configuration.

4. Multiple Features in One Cutting Program
Depending on the component design and machine configuration, length cutting, mounting holes, connection slots, and other compatible features could be completed within one cutting program.

This allowed the customer to consolidate compatible operations and reduce handling between separate processing steps.

5. Configuration Based on the Application
The chuck model and laser power were selected according to the customer’s tube dimensions, material type, wall thickness, and production requirements.

This application-based approach helped match the proposed machine configuration to the ladder components being produced.

Improvements to the Production Workflow

With the laser tube cutting solution, the manufacturer could combine compatible cutting operations and reduce repeated handling between machines.

The digital cutting workflow also made it easier to switch between approved ladder component programs. For parts requiring precise hole alignment or matching assembly features, integrated positioning helped improve consistency between production batches.

By reducing separate processing and positioning steps, the solution provided a more manageable workflow for both batch production and mixed ladder specifications.

Applications Beyond Standard Ladders

The same processing approach can be evaluated for other ladder and access-equipment components, including:

  •  Step ladders and extension ladders
  •  Platform ladders and work platforms
  •  Scaffolding and support components
  •  Safety rails and tubular frames
  •  Custom metal access equipment

The actual machine configuration should be determined according to the material, tube profile, dimensions, wall thickness, and required cutting features.

A Solution Based on Your Actual Parts

For ladder manufacturers, the most suitable laser tube cutting machine depends on the components being produced and the requirements of the production workflow.
